EAS Chemical Spills kits contain
A half-mask respirator with an Organic Vapour/Acid Gas Cartridge. Do not use the respirator if the MSDS sheet says that a spill requires a Self-Contained Respirator. An SCBR respirator is one that supplies oxygen to the user, a half-mask cartridge respirator draws the room air and chemical vapours through the cartridge where the materials inside the cartridge trap and hold chemical vapours. A half mask chemical cartridge is only good for filtering low levels of acid vapours and should not be used in a large acid spill or for highly toxic chemical spills.
